How is Teen Patti played? | Teen Patti Games & Types
Teen Patti is usually played by 3 to 6 players and they use a 52-card pack without jokers. Just like other gambling games, Teen Patti begins by placing a bet. A fixed amount is mutually decided by the players before the cards are distributed. After the players have placed the bet and the initial amount is collected from everyone, three cards are handed to each player face down. There is a pot in the middle of the table, and the boot amount is the cash that is collected from the players at the beginning of the game.
Once the players are dealt three cards, the next step is called making the call or a raise. These terms have different meanings. To make a call means that the player will continue with the game but will not raise the amount. To make a raise refers to raising the amount, that is when the player adds more cash to the pot thus increasing his stakes in the game.
What are some of the variations of Teen Patti | Teen Patti Game & Types
Teen Patti has many variations which allow people of all levels to enjoy it. Some of the popular ones include-
Mufliss, also called Lowball, works like a regular Teen patti, just that it reverses the ranking of the hand. The worst hand in regular Teen Patti becomes the best hand in this one. If two players compare their cards, the player with the worst hand wins. To clarify it with an example, let’s say a player has A-A-A cards while the other has 3-5-8, the former will be declared the winner because he has the lowest cards.
As the name suggests, the aim of this game is to get as close to 999 as possible. Simply put, the player who gets closest to 9-9-9 wins the game. The cards are numbered, and the card suit in this game is irrelevant because it is only the game of numbers. For example, K,Q, J, and 10 of any suit is valued at 0.
So, if you get 7 Q 8, your number is 7 0 8, and if you get 9 9 10, your number is 9 9 0. One interesting aspect of this game is that you are allowed to change the order of the cards. For example, if you get your cards in the order 9 K 4, which translates to 904, you can change them to 9 4 K thereby increasing your value to 9 4 0, and making it closer to 999.
- Sudden Death
Don’t worry, the game is not as scary as its name. In fact, it is exciting as hell. The dealer shuffles and distributes the pack of 52 cards equally among 4 players. Each player gets 13 cards. As a player, you hold your cards in your hand, and drop cards until one of the players’ shouts stop. All of the other players drop cards one after another unless they are asked to stop. Then from the remaining cards in your hands, pick up the card with the highest value for others to compare, The person who has the card with the highest value wins.
- Plus Sign
In this variant of the game, the cards are dealt with each player, and the dealer makes a plus sign on the table with five cards. Those five cards are joker cards, which means any value can be assigned to them. However, players will only get to choose jokers from the horizontal or vertical set of the cards. Which side would the players get to choose jokers from will be decided by the dealer. Once the cards have been dealt, the rounds continue as the normal teen Patti game. When there is a show, you can take advantage of the joker cards.
Let’s say, for example, you have A-A-3, the joker can be chosen from the vertical side and on the vertical side you have a 3. Your 3 becomes a joker card, and it can now have any value. So now you have A-A-A ( a trio)
