- Capturing cards by pairing and combining: If the middle cards help the trick, a player will make any of the above moves simultaneously. If a player has a nine and the board reveals a 5, 4 and 9, he will take both the combination (5 and 4) and the pair (9) simultaneously.
- Building: If a player has the card that the new combination would add up to, he will make a combination on a middle pile by adding one of the cards from his hand. If a player has a six and an 8 in his hand and a 2 in the centre, he will put the six on the two and announce, “building eight.” The player who does so will not be able to catch any cards from this construct until the next turn. To add to a single construct, use a card from your hand.
